Hi! I’m Emma,

An Elementary school English teacher in Busan.

I recently graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in Elementary Education.  Instead of following the path of so many of my peers - starting a job where I had conducted my student teaching or moving back near my family - I made the incredible, albeit daunting, decision to uproot my whole life and move abroad to teach.

EPIK, English Program in Korea, would afford me the perfect opportunity to teach, travel, and learn all at the same time.  I could immerse myself in a new culture while also teaching others about my own culture.  The added bonus of provided housing was too much to pass up.

Over the next 5 months, I did some MAJOR adulting entailing applications, interviews, creating lesson plans, apostilling several documents (still not entirely certain what this means), and purchasing a plane ticket or two.  Add in some tears and a touch of anxiety and you have a successful application process.  Yay me!

I know a little about a lot and a lot about a little, so come along with me on this year full of adventure, learning, and the occasional moment of culture shock!

Midnight in Busan
