Three Cheers for the Weekend

After the very chaotic and LONG week of work, I went out with a few co-workers to a pizza and beer restaurant located near my apartment. While I enjoy trying new Korean foods, there is a comfort in eating foods that remind me of home. In this case, bulgogi pizza and a nice, crisp cider. The pizza choices were a little different compared to those in the states (curse them for not having a classic Margherita pizza!), but it was fun getting to read the choices, like mashed potato pizza and garlic shrimp pizza. I was not left disappointed by the meal, but my inner-self was weeping at the lack of basil available.

Sunday involved another trip to the beach. Last weekend, I went to Haeundae Beach. This weekend, I visited Gwangalli Beach with some friends, which is only about 25 minutes away from where I was last weekend. This time, however, I came prepared with my bathing suit. I was a little hesitant to wear a bikini seeing as how I am so pale I practically sparkle in the sunlight, but the need to splash around won out. The water was refreshing due to the heat and humidity, yet I still kept a close eye out for any sharks that would just happen upon my pale leg and decide I was a tasty little treat. I haven't heard of any shark attacks here, but one can never be too safe when it comes to open water. Can you tell I've watched one too many shark movies in my life time?

Because we had tired ourselves out with the whopping 30 minutes of water time, we decided to grab an early dinner at a beachside restaurant. Our eyes were immediately drawn to the Mexican restaurant that was full of Koreans. You know a place will be good when there are no empty seats to be found. We quickly seated ourselves and got to ordering. I got the nachos with some guacamole on the side, and my friends got a quesadilla and enchiladas. The food was amazing and tasted very authentic, especially considering we are thousands of miles away from Mexico.
