Orientation Day 6

It is the last day in Jeonju before we all go our separate ways. The day began with a class meeting where we filled out a survey on how this week has been. Other than 3 out of the 4 outlets not working in my room, orientation has been great.

The closing ceremony was short and sweet. The president of Jeonju University gave a quick speech followed by the president of NIIED, National Institute for International Education. Finally, the elected class president gave a wonderful speech about our time here and the amazing things our futures hold. Nothing quite as exciting as the Taekwondo Demonstration team but sweet, nonetheless.

Now, the time has come to tell you all my placement within Busan. Drumroll please....I will be teaching at Haeundae English Education Center. There are at least 6 of us EPIK teachers placed there within my intake class. We are also all located within the same apartment building, which means we can commute to work together and figure out where the grocery stores are. I officially signed my contract so I'm official, official now. The head of the Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education met with us and provided all the necessary details for the coming weeks. She also congratulated us on being selected for one of the hardest regions to be placed within. Apparently applicants need to have a great deal of experience as well as a stellar application. I'll just go ahead and pat myself on the back.

Dinner was a bittersweet affair. The food was absolutely scrumptious, but I am sad to part with my roommates. We have become so close within this week, but I know we will visit each other over the coming year. We are all placed in different regions, so I have several road trips ahead of me. Watch out Busan, here I come!
